The Gift of Friends and Family

Dear readers, I aten't dead (yet).  Though I am close.

Fortunately for my sanity, my kind friends have taken me in for lunch and dinner, taken my kids off to play with their kids, watched my sprogs while I gardened (briefly), picked up one kid from school and fed him dinner, and offered to take the three year old.  Tomorrow my mother is coming over for a day and a half, which may enable me to bathe the children.  And.... put in deer fencing around my fruit!  And go weed!  And... I don't even know.  Clean the kitchen?

I'm really, really glad we moved here, where we've made so many fantastic friends, and near family before having the third (I'm still surprised) child.  Because otherwise, I would be dead.

Last week's decision to start potty training, however, remains ill-advised.

  2. The gift of time is the most incredible gift to a parent of young children!

    1. Whenever I'm asked what I want for birthday/Christmas presents, inside what I really want to answer is "Time!" or sometimes "Someone to do some of the really boring chores for me". Maybe I ought to try actually asking for those things? Glad you've got people who can give you some time even amidst the chaos of three children.

    2. DO IT!! When people as how they can help, I ask them to take my kids, or wash my dishes, or whatever. :)

  3. I am having a little bit of kids away time myself, albeit at the cost of a whole lot of difficult travel and the Dumb Wedding. Thank heavens for people who love us, amen.

Potty training is a horror. I am holding out hope that Baby here will just force herself to learn when the time comes. Lord knows she has plenty of maladaptive ways of wanting to be Just Like Brother; surely there has to be At least one time that works in my favor, right?

    1. Surely it will be a breeze. Surely you will also not be 3 months pregnant at the very best time to do this thing with your 2.5-year-old; last summer would have been a LOT better. But what with the dreadful nausea, the moving, and the trip to Alaska.... yeah. Surely your Babycakes will just be a cheerful little person about the whole deal.

Ah, I'm so glad you're getting a little tiny bit of help. It's not enough, but it's something.
