Trying Times

... actually, that's pretty much all I have to say about it. I was once a competent person who could manage more than one complex issue at a time (I was not also responsible for the care, feeding, and clothing of two small needy people, which may be where all the energy went) and now I feel like my stack of plates is always balanced one millimeter from a giant crash.

  1. that comparison between current self and ideal self (and/or past idealized self) always gets me. It's harder to see all the ways in which you are managing, than to see all the ways in which the plates are about to crash, or at least that's my experience. Still, I'm sorry you feel like times are very trying, and I hope for easier, sunnier days for you.

    1. That is a very wise observation, Augusta. And it's also true that a 5-year-old (he even wipes his own bottom!) and a 2.5-year-old are so very much easier to manage than when they were 2.5 and 1 month old. Perhaps there's a constant total level of chaos I can manage and now it's just being filled with different things.

I'm so sorry. It really does seem like you've had an unacceptable share of crap for as long as I can remember. You're doing brilliantly with it all, because most people would just be a puply mass of crushed-under-plates person by now.

Is your spouse teaching this summer, or can he jump in and take over some plates?
