Well, in fact he's been saying word-like things for several months, but around 16 months (so in February) he started talking in grammatically correct, complete sentences. It's disconcerting, that's what, to hear a two-foot-tall and mostly incomprehensible person come out with "I want to go!" "Where's the ball?" "This is a tree".
The other one was still at "Dog! Woof!" when he was 16 months old. It's almost like having a Control Baby, and this one is the Has Chatterbox Sibling: Experimental Group A.
I always loved it when my kids started talking -- it changes the relationship.
ReplyDeleteHe's such an interactive little person now!
DeleteTatoe and I did have a nice conversation last week after he woke from his nap, about "Mommy go away," and other things. He's still only 25% comprehensible to me, which might be better than my own children at that age.
ReplyDeleteI feel like that's about as much as I get too, except more from context ('... fork? You want a fork?').
DeleteI love it! This opens the door to all sorts of awesome babyisms.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite so far is "I want FOO!" (tofu). Also he calls himself Tatoe (really). His real name has a lot of hard sounds so it'd probably come out like Tatoe anyways.
