Good, Bad, and Already Decided

Annual review: my boss had nothing but lovely, complimentary things to say about me, and was very nice.

Today: my boss's boss came by to tell me that someone on my team was quitting and not being replaced, leaving me and Colleague to do the work that three people were doing before. My boss's boss is sure I can do it!!

I could. But.... I don't think I will. Here's the downside of hiring people with life experience: they're better at dealing with customers, but WAAAAAY less willing to be abused.

If I hadn't already decided to quit, I would now. Unrealistic expectations and 60-hour workweeks? Been there, not going there again.

  1. A team of two doing the work of three people? Wow. You're right to want out. Good for you!

  2. Hey, Jenny -

I am glad for you. And I know it's not going to be easy. If you ever get bored, there's a great altnerative/natural health/homeschooling/breastfeeding mother's message board that I found really helpful.

I usually hung out in the gifted child forum. There is an unbelievable wealth of collective knowledge there, if you don't already know about it.

  3. Just bookmarked your blog (and I can't wait to see all the history, I found this on a google search for professional women quitting their jobs to stay home and work for their family instead of a company!). Very interesting reading! keep it up, can't wait to hear more!
